Just like Bambi...

Some of the best Norwegian furniture designs have come from the studio of Rastad & Relling. Opened in 1943 by interior designers Rolf Rastad and Adolf Relling, the office served as a kind of start platform for many young Norwegian designers during the 1950s and 1960s. One of these was Sigurd Resell, who designed a series of chairs with slender legs and a delicate profile that resembled the popular Disney figure, Bambi, slipping on the ice. An armchair in this series, model 57, features a classic shape, a sculptural back and a quality of handiwork that places it among the best of its time in the Scandinavian Design movement. The Bambi series was highly successful, both in Norway and abroad, during the 1950s and 1960s and is still prized by both collectors and modern design enthusiasts today. In 2017, this Bambi chair, model 57, is being relaunched by Fjordfiesta, in cooperation with Utopia Workshop and Rastad & Relling. It is produced in ash, oak and walnut, both with upholstered and classic padded leather seat.
